Working glossary
- Architectonica Mundi
- An open conceptual framework for developing and relating axes of inquiry.
- Operatio Mundi
- Its currently developed axis concerning purposeful activity.
- Purposeful activity
- Activity guided or organized in relation to a purpose; achievement is a separate question.
- Ratio Mundi
- The cognitive function of purposeful activity, including understanding, interpretation, deliberation and judgment.
- Reasoning
- Examining and connecting grounds, reasons and inferences to develop, justify, challenge or revise an understanding or conclusion within Ratio.
- Actio Mundi
- The implementing function of purposeful activity, including production, operation, maintenance and intervention.
- Intelligentiae Mundi
- The perspective examining diverse intelligences, their capacities, organization and contribution within and across participants.
- Machinae Mundi
- The perspective examining physical realization and operative means, including biological, artificial and mixed systems.
- Context
- Relevant circumstances, distinguishable from the incomplete or potentially mistaken account through which they are understood.
- Purpose
- A direction toward an understanding, outcome, maintained condition or prevention of change, whose source and standing require examination.
- System
- An organized whole whose boundaries, components, participants and relationships require an account appropriate to the question.
- Transformation
- Change in relevant circumstances or arrangements, including intended, unintended and independently caused change.
- Participant
- An element participating within an identified whole, distinguishable from its internal components, supporting resources and affected persons.
- Systemic organization
- Organization within a participant or across participants in a wider whole. Its existence alone demonstrates no particular intelligence claim.
- Systemic intelligence
- A specified intelligent capability attributed to the organization of a whole under stated conditions.
- Individualization
- Becoming particular to someone or a use.
- Individuation
- What distinguishes a participant or whole as this particular one.
- Artifex
- The role bearing authority and responsibility for adopting, governing and revising higher-level purposes within a specified system or undertaking.
- Opifex
- The role of a participant entrusted with pursuing assigned higher-level purposes within a specified mandate; the role holder may also be called an Opifex.
- Commitment
- The standing acquired by a direction through adoption under relevant authority.
- Authorization
- Permission specifying what may be done, by whom and within which limits.
- Data
- Observations, measurements, symbols, signals and records considered as material for processing.
- Information
- What data or representations convey within a context; technical information measures use a different sense.
- Intelligence
- Capacities involved in interpreting, learning, evaluating, reasoning, adapting and guiding activity.
- Representation
- An account or form through which relevant aspects of an undertaking are made intelligible, distinct from what it represents and from its physical realization.
- Provenance
- The source and history of a contribution or record, including who contributed and how its content and standing arose or changed.
- Constitution
- How organized participation, relevant boundaries and the allocation of authority establish a whole; describing it does not validate its authority.
- Continuity
- What remains the same, what changes and what can still be exercised over time, examined separately for relevant dimensions.
- Persistence
- Preservation of recorded data over time; continued intelligibility additionally depends on formats and context.
- Portability
- Usability of preserved records elsewhere.
- Reconstitution
- Restoration of an operative arrangement, which does not itself prove continuity of identity or authority.
The glossary provides concise meanings. The connected account explains their conditions and relationships. Role names and definitions establish neither a participant's capability nor the validity of its authority.

Physical realization and technical information
Rolf Landauer, Information is physical, Physics Today 44, no. 5 (1991), 23–29. Publisher page · DOI
Background on the physical realization and constraints of computation and communication.
Claude E. Shannon, A Mathematical Theory of Communication, Bell System Technical Journal 27, no. 3 (1948), 379–423. Publisher record · DOI
The engineering account concerns selection among possible messages and sets semantic meaning aside for that problem. It helps distinguish technical information measures from the contextual meaning used in the present account.
Data and information
National Institute of Standards and Technology, CSRC Glossary. Data · Information
These entries collect definitions from several source documents. They illustrate why technical usage must be read in context. Architectonica's data, information and intelligence distinctions are working meanings for this account.
Biological and artificial integration
Natasha Vita-More, The Transhumanist Manifesto, revised 2020. Official text
A primary statement of proposals concerning biological–technological integration and augmentation. It supports describing those proposals, without establishing their realization or desirability.
Francis R. Willett and colleagues, A high-performance speech neuroprosthesis, Nature 620 (2023), 1031–1036. Publisher article · DOI
A study combining neural recordings and computational decoding to translate attempted speech into text in one participant. It supports a specific integrated function under the study conditions. It does not establish merged identities or the proposed architectural participant classifications.

Development of the account
The conceptual base for this presentation is Architectonica Mundi v0.14, dated 31 October 2026, Part I. The website incorporates the subsequent naming revision agreed on 31 October 2026: Operatio Mundi names the purposeful-activity axis, with Ratio Mundi as its cognitive function and Actio Mundi as its implementing function. The revision preserves their functional relationships and Architectonica's open scope.
Compared with v0.12, the current text uses Intelligentiae Mundi to address the diversity of intelligences within and across participants. It expands the working distinctions among data, contextual information and intelligent capacities. Its representation and continuity accounts distinguish preservation of recorded data from their continuing intelligibility, which also depends on usable formats and sufficient context.
The account of development and examination explains the work's standing and the different kinds of support its claims require.
